Right-Hand Man

I love studying God’s word. It’s inexhaustible. There are layers upon layers of depth within its pages and it’s honestly one of my favorite places to dwell.

One of the greatest joys to discover in reading the Word from Old Testament to New Testament is finding Jesus woven throughout. It really all points back to Him. He even said this Himself,

You diligently search the Scriptures because you think to have eternal life in them, and these are they bearing witness concerning Me – John 5:39

The Scriptures bear witness to Jesus. They point to Him. They are God’s Word. And God’s Word is Jesus. It’s mind blowing!

In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God.  He was with God in the beginning.  All things were created through him, and apart from him not one thing was created that has been created. – John 1:1-3

There is a common phrase to refer to someone as a ‘right-hand man’. It means that the person is one’s primary or most trusted assistant. After Jesus’ death on the cross and resurrection from the dead, He ascended to the heavens to be seated at the RIGHT HAND of the Father. God has shown me through studying scripture that Jesus is God’s Right-Hand Man.

My own hand founded the earth,
and my right hand spread out the heavens;
when I summoned them,
they stood up together. – Isaiah 48:13

Jesus spread out the heavens!

Lord, your right hand is glorious in power.
Lord, your right hand shattered the enemy, – Exodus 15:6

Jesus is glorious in power, He shattered the enemy!

Display the wonders of your faithful love,
Savior of all who seek refuge
from those who rebel against your right hand. – Psalm 17:7

God is our refuge from those against Jesus!

Do not fear, for I am with you;
do not be afraid, for I am your God.
I will strengthen you; I will help you;
I will hold on to you with my righteous right hand. – Isaiah 41:10

God holds onto us with Jesus!

You reveal the path of life to me;
in your presence is abundant joy;
at your right hand are eternal pleasures. – Psalm 16:11

In Jesus are eternal pleasures!

And there are many others. When God reveals things like this through His Word, it really is like finding buried treasure. I just love God’s Word!!!

Who else but Christ would be God’s primary and most trusted assistant, His ‘right-hand’ man? Is Christ your primary and most trusted? It really all comes back to Jesus.

He is before all things, and in Him all things hold together. – Colossians 1:17

I encourage you to venture deeply and richly into God’s Word. It is so much more than written words on pages. It’s a guide, it’s food, it’s comfort, it’s a refuge, it’s a light, it’s life, it’s Jesus!!
